This unit is an exploration of science, math and technology that was developed, altered or utilized by civilization during medieval times. It is often assumed that the “Dark Ages” between the years 400- 1499 AD offered little in scientific development. However, this time period actually helped lay the foundation for modern science and mathematics. Technological advances abounded. While there are many STEM related concepts to explore in the Middle Ages, this unit focuses on agriculture, society and epidemiology, various aspects involving chemistry and textiles, and technological developments that lead civilization into the Renaissance.
